I have always loved interior design - particularly brutalist and industrial influenced interiors - but the initial intrigue with concrete stemmed from a Christmas present I bought my mother years ago. It was a very big and very heavy concrete fruit bowl. I loved it so much that I decided to try and make one myself, and that's where it began.
I started making bowls for friends & family, but it wasn't until Summer 2020 when I lost my former job at Soho House Design due to COVID, that I decided to make my little hobby into a full-time business.
And so came CONK. The name 'Conk' is short for concrete, which is the most successful thing to come from a wine-fuelled evening at home with my cousin.
Having recently moved out of London, I now hand make every Conk from my little Conk studio in Brighton. Due to the nature of being handmade, no two Conks are the same. This means that like us, every Conk has it's own imperfections and differences, which is what I think makes them even more perfect - your Conk is completely unique to you.
Oh, and the best thing about losing my office job is that I was able to get Willy, my naughty little whippet-elf.
I hope you like the Conks but if you have any questions at all please do not hesitate to get in touch. I have also started making bespoke Conks, so if there's anything you fancy designing & creating together then let me know.
Conk Seconds is all the Conks that cannot be sold for one reason or another. Instead of wasting them, they are sold at a heavily discounted price.
